welcomes listeners and players of any level – beginner to professional

as well as family members of all ages!!

Perform at open mike, join group sessions, jam with others, or just listen -- as you prefer.

Everyone has a good time in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.

Goals

Promote public awareness of and appreciation for the accordion

Offer membership to players of all ages and proficiency levels

Sponsor concerts, festivals, workshops or other educational programs to enhance members’ knowledge and promote their self-improvement

Form accordion ensembles (orchestra, band, chamber groups)  

Cooperate and share information with other accordion organizations

 

Meetings/Dues

WHEN DOES NHAA MEET? Usually 1:00 - 4:00 PM the third Saturday of every month. Meeting dates may change if races are scheduled at the nearby speedway or be cancelled if bad weather prohibits safe travel.

HOW MUCH DOES MEMBERSHIP COST? Dues are $30.00 annually (January 1 - December 31) per family (including spouses, parents, children, grandparents). Dues help to cover professional concerts, workshops, presentations, other performances, and administrative costs.

 

Activities/Benefits

OPEN MIKE – members may perform individually or as duos, trios, etc.

GROUP SESSION – members receive sheet music parts and rehearse with the music director, who conducts the ensemble at performances and other events, e.g., ACCORDIONS NOW! Music Festival (see box below), local appearances, joint meetings with other associations

JAM SESSIONS – spontaneous music-making by members, usually during Social Time, occasionally with guest performers’ participation

GUEST ARTISTS – soloists -- or ensembles featuring accordion – are invited periodically to perform concerts and/or present workshops

MEMBERS AS FEATURED PERFORMERS – members may volunteer to perform a concert, present a workshop, or give a demonstration (advance consultation with music director is required re scheduling)

SOCIAL TIME, REFRESHMENTS – delectable snacks are provided by NHAA members, beverages by Accordion Connection LLC

DISCOUNT – members receive a 10% discount on all merchandise at Accordion Connection LLC

ADVANCE NOTICE – members receive first notification of events sponsored by NHAA and/or Accordion Connection LLC, usually with special admission rates offered

NEWSLETTER – published periodically to cover:

o members’ activities and accomplishments, e.g. performance dates, awards,
CD releases, compositions, arrangements, etc.

o accordions or accordionists in the news, e.g. interviews with contemporary artists, biographies of the greats, CD reviews, technological developments, new products, etc.

o concerts, festivals, or other events of interest to members

The ACCORDIONS NOW! Music Festival is co-sponsored by NHAA every August. Members of the NHAA Ensemble form the core of the ever-popular ACCORDIONS NOW! Festival Orchestra [AN!FO], in which pre-registered attendees may participate. This annual gathering of accordion fans is accurately described by the festival’s motto: ACCORDIONS NOW! LOTS OF ACCORDIONS, LOTS OF MUSIC, LOTS OF FUN !!
